Unpopular opinion: the random guy at the laundromat in Des Moines fixed my washer issue in 10 minutes after I spent 3 weekends on it
My washer kept stopping halfway through the spin cycle and I spent three full weekends on it. I checked the lid switch, I leveled the thing twice, I watched maybe six hours of repair videos and still had a tub full of wet clothes. Last Saturday I'm sitting at the laundromat on University Ave with a basket of towels, complaining to nobody in particular, and this older guy folding his sheets asks what code it's throwing. I tell him and he says it's the drain pump filter, probably a sock. Ten minutes of talking and he walks me through pulling the front panel off. Sure enough, a baby sock was jammed in there, and I had been about to buy a new machine. Turns out he ran appliance repair on the east side for 22 years and just likes helping people out. We swapped numbers and he said call anytime before I spend money. Has anyone else had a stranger at a laundromat or hardware store solve a problem that ate weeks of your time?
