Vent: That one time I got lost in Portland because a stranger gave me wrong directions to Powells

I asked some guy on the street how to get to Powells City of Books last summer and he sent me 6 blocks the wrong way, which made me late for a meetup and now I never trust random pedestrians for directions without double-checking my phone, has anyone else had a chance encounter completely backfire like that?

Did the guy give you directions or a guided tour of Portland neighborhoods?

That 'never trust random pedestrians' thing seems harsh, one bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch.

In my experience it helps to ask two different people before you start walking, that way you can compare what they say and spot the wrong one. Your mileage may vary but I've saved myself a lot of extra blocks that way.
