Warning: An engineer at a job site changed how I torque bolts forever

I was tightening flange bolts on a pump skid in Houston when this old engineer walked over and said 'stop guessing, get a torque wrench with a clicker not a beam.' I had been using a beam style for years and never realized how off I was. Has anyone else had a random pro call them out on something they thought was fine?

@sarah_hart I get where you're coming from but beam wrenches have that parallax issue that throws readings off if you're not at the perfect angle. Clickers aren't perfect either but at least they give you a clear signal without having to stare at it. Worth the upgrade if you're doing this every day.

Honestly beam wrenches are fine if you actually know how to read them properly.
