I always thought the chatter lounge was just a place for small talk

I was wrong. A guy named Mark in the Denver group posted a thread about using it for project feedback, and it totally changed my view. He got real help on a website layout issue in like two days. Has anyone else found a solid use for the lounge beyond just casual posts?

So it's basically a free focus group. How do you stop it from just turning into a bunch of random opinions though? Seems like you'd need to guide the feedback pretty hard.

Wait, didn't someone in the Seattle group use it to find beta testers? I remember a post where a person needed people to try a new app feature. They got a bunch of volunteers from the lounge in a single afternoon. It was way more useful than just posting updates.

That Seattle example is exactly what makes these lounges work when they're good. The person asking for testers probably laid out clear steps, like "download this build and try the search function." I saw a similar post in the Austin group last month that got twenty replies. The key is being specific about what you need people to do. How did that Seattle post word the actual ask to get such good results?
