I finally stopped hoarding old listings after a client called me out
A buyer I was working with last spring said my online portfolio was overwhelming and made her feel like I was just dumping every house I'd ever seen. She told me it felt like I didn't care enough to curate what I showed her. I took all 47 expired listings off my site that night and replaced them with just the 8 homes I actually toured that month. Has anyone else had clients give feedback that made you completely redo your approach?

My own boss actually told me something similar a few years back when I was trying to show him a whole spreadsheet of paint colors we had in stock. He just looked at me and said "I only need the three most popular ones." That stung a little but he was totally right. Sometimes we get so caught up in showing everything we know that we forget people just want the useful stuff. Culling things down to what actually matters takes way more effort than just dumping everything out there. Sounds like that client did you a real favor even if it hurt to hear it. Sometimes the best advice comes from the people who call us out.

Had a buddy who used to run a small coffee shop and he told me a similar story. He spent hours making this huge menu board with every single drink option they could possibly make, like 40 different things. A regular customer finally told him "dude, just put the top 10 drinks people actually order." @the_simon, your boss was spot on with that paint colors thing. It took my friend a whole afternoon to cut that menu down, way more work than just slapping everything up there. But after he did it, people actually started ordering faster because they weren't overwhelmed. Sometimes the painful truth is the most helpful thing someone can tell you.

Less is almost always more with customers tbh.
