PSA: The guy at the coffee shop who nodded at my order method

I was at a local spot in Denver last Tuesday and this older barista watched me stir my latte counter-clockwise before taking a sip... He just nodded slow and said "you get it, most people don't respect the swirl direction." Has anyone else had a random stranger affirm some tiny habit you never thought about?

Things like that stick with you because it's about seeing someone else notice the same unspoken rule you follow. The swirl direction thing is real, most people just plunge their spoon in without any finesse. Counterclockwise keeps the foam intact if you're not trying to mix it all up right away. That barista probably clocks people's pour-over techniques all day and gets tired of the savages who destroy their own drink. Respect gets respect when you're both tuned into the same small code. Feels good to be seen for something that small.

Whoa, that's a lot to unpack over coffee foam. You sure the barista isn't just being polite?
