Rant: My whole chatter lounge setup went down for 6 hours yesterday

Honestly, I was trying to update the forum software on my server and the whole thing just crashed, showing a blank white page. Ngl, I spent the entire afternoon rolling back the update and checking the database connections. Has anyone else had a major crash after a simple plugin update?

That's not really a simple plugin update if you're messing with the core forum software.

Ugh, totally! @averymartin is spot on. They call it a simple update, but then you're digging into template files and editing core functions just to make it work. Last time I tried one, it completely broke the search feature for two days. Had to manually revert three different files. It's never just a simple plugin drop-in anymore.
