Sat through a 2 hour "lounge" meeting in Denver and learned nothing except everyone hates the new chairs
We booked the Birchwood room for our quarterly chatter lounge meetup and the hotel swapped us into a windowless conference room with chairs that squeaked every time someone shifted. Half the group spent the time passing notes about how uncomfortable they were instead of actually chatting about the lounge stuff we came for. Has anyone else had a venue pull a bait and switch like that, and did you just deal with it or ask for your deposit back?
That is such a bummer, and no you are not being dramatic for being mad about it. I read a thing a while back about hotels doing this on purpose, where they overbook the nice rooms and stick the smaller groups wherever they can fit them. The squeaky chairs are the worst part because once one person notices, everybody starts wiggling around just to hear it and then nobody can focus. Next time I would ask for a walk through of the actual room before you pay anything, and put in writing that it has to be that exact space. If they swap it again, that is on them and you should push for at least part of your money back.
