TIL my paint sprayer needs cleaning way more often than the manual says
Ran into a clogged nozzle on a $4,000 cabinet job last month and it took me 3 hours to fix something that would've taken 5 minutes if I'd just rinsed it the night before. Anyone else find that equipment manuals always downplay the maintenance schedule?

Yeah manuals ALWAYS lie about how often you gotta clean stuff.

Honestly I think people blow this stuff out of proportion sometimes. Yeah the manual might say every three months but if you use filtered water and don't let coffee sit in there for days, you probably won't see any scale buildup for a year or more. Ngl I've seen people let their espresso machines go for 5 years without a descale and they still pull shots fine, the machine just eventually gives out for other reasons. Tbh if you're rinsing the carafe and running a quick cycle with some vinegar once in a blue moon, you're probably good.

The manual for my coffee maker says to descale it every three months. I've had that thing for two years and never done it once, still works fine. @alice89 is right on the money with that one. Same goes for those car maintenance schedules - they want you changing oil every 3,000 miles but modern synthetic can go double that easy.
