Tried meal prepping on Sunday for the first time and wound up with 7 jars of soup I hate

I finally gave in and tried that whole meal prep thing everyone on here talks about because my lunch break is only 30 minutes and I was spending like $12 a day on fast food. I picked Sunday afternoon and decided to make a big batch of tomato basil soup since I thought it would be easy to portion out. I spent like 3 hours chopping onions and simmering everything and ended up filling 7 mason jars with soup that tastes way too salty somehow. I ate one jar yesterday and it was alright but now I'm staring at 6 more jars in my fridge and I already know I'm gonna get sick of it by Wednesday. I think I learned that maybe I should just prep ingredients instead of full meals so I can mix it up during the week. Has anyone else tried doing ingredient prep instead and had better luck with not wasting food?

Seven jars of soup you hate? That sounds like a learning experience, not a tragedy. You ate one jar and said it was "alright" so you're not suffering, you're just annoyed. Honestly, you're acting like you committed to eating bad soup for the rest of your life when you could just freeze those jars and forget about them for a month. Ingredient prep is fine but so is just accepting that one bad batch of soup isn't the end of the world. Maybe don't make 7 of something you've never made before next time?

12 jars of the same thing is what I did with some awful chili verde once and it SUCKS. I just forced myself to eat it every day and now I can't even smell tomatillos without gagging. @jordan_webb I actually tried adding cream and hot sauce to the rest of my jars and it helped a little but not enough to make me not dread lunch haha. My big lesson was exactly what you said about ingredient prep instead throwing everything together blind. Now I just chop a bunch of veggies and cook some rice or quinoa on Sunday then mix and match with different sauces during the week. Way less food waste and I don't end up with a fridge full of soup I'm tired of.

Wait, couldn't you just doctor up the rest with some cream or spices to change it up?
