Why does nobody talk about the guy who ran the laundromat on 14th telling me to wash my shirts cold
I was sitting in the Chatter Lounge waiting on my dryer last Tuesday and this older guy next to me started talking about his shirts. He said he has been washing everything cold for 22 years and his whites still look white, no yellowing at all. I always thought hot water killed germs and cold was just for colors, so I figured he was wrong. Then he showed me the tag on his 15 year old white tee and it honestly looked better than the ones I bought last spring. I tried it on my own load that night and my shrinking problem mostly went away. Has anyone else been told something basic like this and felt dumb after hearing it?
My buddy Marco had almost the same thing happen at a car wash of all places. Some old timer there told him he had been using the wrong oil in his truck for years and Marco brushed him off, then looked it up later and the guy was right. He felt like a total idiot for arguing. It is weird how the most random people end up knowing stuff we never bothered to learn. Cold water thing makes sense too, heat breaks down fabric over time so of course shirts wear out faster.
