Comparing canned tomatoes taught me a lesson about salt

I used to just grab whatever can of diced tomatoes was on sale, usually the 88 cent store brand. But last month I tried a 2 dollar can of San Marzano style ones from Aldi for my pasta sauce... and wow, the difference was huge. The cheap ones needed a lot of extra salt and sugar to taste right, but the pricier ones were good almost straight from the can. Has anyone else noticed a big jump in flavor just by spending a buck more on canned tomatoes?

Totally, the Aldi ones are legit, San Marzano hype is real.

Notice how the expensive stuff is never as good as people claim. Same with wine or olive oil. Marketing works on most people though.
