Frozen spinach packs tricked me into eating better for 4 straight months
I always figured frozen veggies were just sad mush, but last January I grabbed a 99 cent bag of chopped spinach on a whim. Threw it in a pan with eggs and leftover rice, and honestly it tasted like real food. Now I keep three bags in the freezer at all times and add it to pasta, soups, even grilled cheese sandwiches. Has anyone else found a frozen staple that quietly saved their budget AND their meals?
How did it take me until my thirties to figure out frozen spinach is basically free real food? I used to buy the fresh stuff, watch it wilt into a sad wet pile in two days, and then throw it out while telling myself I would do better next week. The frozen bag just sits there, no pressure, no clock ticking, and somehow that makes me actually use it. I have been doing the same thing with frozen corn and edamame lately, just dumping them into whatever is on the stove. The real trick is that a 99 cent bag makes me feel like a person who plans meals, when really I am just a person who panics at 6pm with a hot pan. My only regret is not knowing this sooner, because past me wasted a lot of money on spinach that died in the crisper drawer.
