Heads up about a grocery store trick I saw at the Aldi on Broadway last Thursday
I was at the Aldi on Broadway last Thursday and I noticed something that bothered me. They had those big bins of bulk rice and beans right near the entrance, but I saw a guy open a bag of the rice, scoop some into his own container, then just leave the bag open on the shelf. That rice is gonna go stale or get bugs in it real fast. Plus the store probably has to throw that whole bag out now, which means prices go up for everyone. I get trying to save money but that's just wasting food and making things worse. Has anyone else seen people doing stuff like that at your local store? It feels like we gotta watch out for each other more.

Ugh, that really grinds my gears. I caught some lady at my local Walmart doing basically the same thing with those big bags of almonds last month. She was just scooping handfuls into a ziplock like she was at a bulk barn or something, and then she left the bag all twisted up but not sealed. Like, do people not realize that someone else might buy that bag and get crumbs or whatever? And yeah, you're totally right about the bugs thing - I've found a moth in a bag of oats before because of this nonsense (it was horrifying). It's just lazy and selfish, honestly. I don't get why they can't just buy the smaller bag if they only need a little bit.

Heard about this happening at a Kroger somewhere in Ohio where some guy was doing the same thing with the coffee beans. People just don't think about the consequences. That open bag of rice you saw is probably gonna get thrown out tomorrow morning when the stock boy finds it half open sitting there. It's not just about being a jerk to the store, it's about being a jerk to the next person who wanted that bag. Makes me wonder how much food gets wasted every year just from people doing stupid stuff like this.

Wait, someone actually scooped almonds into a ziplock and left the bag? That's a whole new level of audacity I didn't think existed.
