I compared frozen veggie packs to loose produce and saved $9 a week

Last month I was buying those little bags of frozen mixed veggies for stir fry at 2 for $5, but my buddy kept saying the loose carrots, onions, and bell peppers are way cheaper. So I did a full week with a notepad and tracked every meal. Frozen packs cost me about $14 for the week, loose produce came to $5.20 for the same amount, and I just chop everything on Sunday. The only catch is I have to use them within 4 days or stuff goes soft. Does anyone else do the loose veggie thing for meal prep, or is there a trick to keeping them fresh longer?

Slice those peppers up and freeze them yourself if you want to skip the Sunday chopping drama. I did the same math once and ended up with a bag of sad, limp carrots that I had to turn into soup, so your 4 day window sounds generous. Honestly, just accept the soft veggies and make a stir fry before they betray you.
