My $3 spaghetti hack from 3 years ago turned into a weekly standoff with my roommate
Three years ago in Columbus I was broke and living on $30 a week for food, so I started making a huge pot of spaghetti with a can of crushed tomatoes, a whole onion, and half a stick of butter I swiped from my roommate's shelf. It came out to about $2.80 for four servings and honestly tasted better than the $12 plate at the place down the street. I made it every Sunday for two months straight until my roommate Jake walked in, saw me dumping butter in the pot, and just stood there staring at me for a full minute. He now buys his own butter and hides it in a shoebox in his closet, and I still use the same recipe, except I add a pinch of sugar now. Last week I caught him eating my leftovers at 2am with the fridge light on like a raccoon. Does anyone else have a pantry recipe that turned into a weird unspoken war, or is it just me and Jake?
