Rice cooker beans beat my slow cooker and I'm not going back
I always thought beans needed a crockpot and 8 hours to taste right. Turns out my $20 rice cooker does a better job in 90 minutes flat. I did a side by side with pinto beans, same 1 lb bag from Aldi at $1.29, same soaking time. The slow cooker batch came out mushy and bland. The rice cooker batch held its shape and soaked up the onion and cumin way better. If you already own a rice cooker, you already own a bean machine. Has anyone tried this with black beans or does the texture go weird?
Man, this is the same story as air fryers and instant pots. People buy one gadget for one job and never try it on anything else, then act shocked when it works. A rice cooker is just a pot that holds steady heat, same as any of them, so beans make total sense. Black beans should be fine, just check them earlier than you think.
