That 25 cent can of beans beat my $4.50 'fancy' meal kit

I bought a single can of pinto beans for 25 cents at the Aldi in Cleveland, added some rice and hot sauce, and it tasted better than the meal kit I spent 4.50 on last Tuesday, so why is the cheap stuff winning every time, anyone else find this backwards?

and honestly, are we really comparing a basic can of beans to a whole meal kit? like, of course the beans win when you're talking pure value, but the meal kit is convenience, not a taste competition. if you're surprised a 25 cent staple beats a boxed dinner, you might just be mad about spending 4.50.
