Warning: spent 6 hours chasing why my $1.50 bean pot kept boiling dry and the answer was dumb
Tried to make a big batch of pinto beans last Sunday to stretch my grocery money, and the pot kept running dry even though I filled it way past the beans like always. Turned out my stove's back burner runs hot and I had the lid sitting crooked so all the steam escaped for hours, meaning I burned through 3 extra pots of water and almost ruined the whole thing. Does anyone else have a burner that secretly cooks way hotter than the rest, and how do you figure that out before wasting a day?
