Pro tip: Check your local produce supplier's walk-in if you get the chance
I was picking up an order at Freshway in Spokane yesterday and saw their main cooler was sitting at 50 degrees. Has anyone else run into a supplier with temp control issues this season?

Ever notice how this stuff is everywhere now? I swear half the stores I go into have warm coolers or broken fridge doors. Feels like basic maintenance is just slipping across the board, not just with food suppliers. Makes you wonder what else is being let slide that we don't see.

Right? That "basic maintenance is slipping" line from you, @sam_thomas, is so true. I've started checking the actual temperature inside the dairy case with a cheap fridge thermometer I keep in my bag. Found milk at 50 degrees once and got the manager to fix it on the spot. You gotta check the stuff in the back of the shelf, too, that's always the warmest.

Wasn't there a news story a while back about a grocery chain getting fined for exactly this kind of thing? It really does seem like a widespread problem. I keep thinking about what @stellaa69 said, and she's totally right that you have to check the stuff in the back. That's where they hide the older, warmer stuff hoping no one notices. Makes me not want to buy anything from a cold case unless I saw them restock it myself.
