Community solar shares beat my rooftop panels for 2 years straight

I put $8k into rooftop solar on my house in Austin back in 2022. Last year my neighbor joined a community solar farm 30 miles out and pays $0 upfront. His monthly credit cuts his electric bill by 20%, mine only cuts it by 12% after maintenance and inverter issues. I still like having panels, but if I did it again I would have gone community route first, especially since rental units and shaded lots can join too. Anyone else compare both options and land on one side?
