Had to pick between a gas mower and an electric one for my yard in Phoenix

Gas all day in that heat. Electric batteries lose charge way too fast when it's over a hundred degrees. You'll be stuck halfway through the lawn waiting for a recharge. A gas mower just works every single time, no matter how hot it gets. Trust me, you don't want that hassle in a Phoenix summer.

Electric's the only way in this heat...

Exactly, and you're not breathing in all that exhaust while you're out there sweating. Plus, the instant start is a lifesaver when you just want to get it done. No more yanking a pull cord in hundred-degree heat until your arm gives out.
