I finally got my neighbor to switch from leaf blowers to rakes after a 15 minute chat

My neighbor Bill has been using that gas leaf blower every Saturday for years... drives me crazy with the noise and fumes. Last week I just asked him if he knew how much gas he was burning in an hour. He said no idea. I looked it up on my phone... about 3/4 of a gallon per hour. That's like 6 bucks a week just to move leaves. Plus the carbon. He looked at the numbers and said 'huh, never thought of it that way.' Now he's using a rake. Has anyone else had luck getting neighbors to drop gas tools with just a simple cost breakdown?

OH MAN, that's GENIUS. I tried that exact approach with my neighbor Frank and he just shrugged and said "it's worth it for the workout." Like buddy, you're standing still holding a blower, what workout?? I swear the only workout is my eyeballs rolling every time I see him fire that thing up at 8am on a Sunday. But hey, maybe I should just quote him the gas price too and see if THAT changes his tune. Some people just need that dollar sign right in their face to wake up, I guess.
