My neighbor yelled at me for using gas blower - switched to electric and it's different

Last fall I was blowing leaves into the street like always and my neighbor came out and said I was ruining the air for her kids. She wasn't mean about it but it stuck with me. So I bought a corded electric blower for about $80 and honestly it's quieter but I have to drag a 100 foot extension cord everywhere. Has anyone else made the switch and found a setup that doesn't feel like a hassle?

Well, I'm not sure it's that serious. If the neighbor was polite about it, fine, but a gas blower running for an hour isn't going to ruin anyone's air permanently. I've used both and honestly I'd rather deal with the gas smell than trip over a cord every five minutes. Plus, electric blowers just don't have the same power for wet leaves or heavy debris.

Trip over a cord every five minutes"? I'm sorry, but that's a bit dramatic, isn't it? I've been using an electric blower for three years now and I can count on one hand the times I've so much as stepped on the cord. You just run it along the edge of the yard or behind you. As for power, have you tried a good battery-powered one lately? I used one last fall on wet maple leaves and it moved them just fine. Maybe not as fast as a gas blower, but I'll take a bit more time over breathing in all that exhaust. Your neighbor might appreciate it too.

Man, I had the same problem with my neighbor a couple years back. I ended up switching to a battery blower just for the mornings so I wouldn't feel like a jerk firing up the gas one. It doesn't have the same kick for wet stuff but it handles dry leaves good enough for a quick cleanup.
