My old gas stove vs my new induction, the energy bill is wild

I used to cook everything on this beat-up gas range from the 90s, the kind with pilot lights that just burned gas all day. My electric bill was always low but the gas bill in winter hit like $80 and my kitchen felt like a sauna every July. Last May I switched to a basic induction cooktop after our landlord finally allowed it, and honestly the change is way bigger than I thought. The water boils in like 2 minutes instead of 8, and my gas bill dropped to about $25 a month, which adds up to maybe $660 a year saved. But what really sold me is the heat loss, I can touch the counter right next to the pan and it stays cool, so my AC isn't fighting the stove anymore. Has anyone else made this swap and noticed their whole house feels less stuffy, or is that just me?

That whole "AC isn't fighting the stove" thing sounds nice, but you're basically trading one problem for another. Those induction cooktops throw off crazy heat to the cookware itself, but trust me, the electronics underneath can get just as hot as any old flame. Plus that $660 you're saving is gonna disappear fast when the fan inside that thing dies in a couple years and you need to replace the whole unit.
