Pro tip: Check your local library for a tool lending program before you buy anything new.

Last month, I needed a power washer to clean my deck. Was about to rent one for $75 a day from the hardware store. My neighbor mentioned the tool library at the downtown branch. Went over, got a membership for $25 a year. Borrowed a commercial grade washer for a full week, no extra charge. They had everything from lawn aerators to tile saws. It saved me money and kept another piece of equipment from sitting unused in my garage. Made me think how much stuff we all own that just collects dust. Anyone know if other cities have programs this good?

Oh wow, my buddy did that with a carpet cleaner! Saved a ton and didn't have to store the thing after.

Totally get that... it's wild how much space junk takes up. My dad had this massive table saw he used maybe twice a year. Took up half the basement. After he passed, we had to figure out what to do with it, and nobody really wanted it. Felt bad just tossing it, but it was such a specific, bulky thing. Makes you wonder about all the other basements and garages packed with single-use stuff.
