Spent 8 months trying to get my apartment complex to install a bike rack before they finally did it

I kept pestering the property manager every month with studies and petitions, and it took eight full months for them to actually put in a cheap little rack near the dumpster, which makes me wonder what other small climate-friendly changes are totally doable but get ignored forever.

I finally got my complex to add a bike rack after 7 months when I found out the property manager was a cyclist herself. She admitted the hold up was just her not wanting to deal with the maintenance guys, so I offered to help pick a spot and even grabbed a cheap rack on clearance for them to install. That cut through all the excuses real fast. I think a lot of places just need someone to make it easy for them, not just argue about it. What about asking your neighbors to sign a quick agreement to share the cost if the complex won't pay?

Found the sweet spot by offering to install the rack myself if they bought it. Manager signed off in two days once it meant zero work for their team.

Eight months? Rookie numbers lol. I tried getting my old complex to add a bike rack and ended up accidentally starting a whole neighborhood feud when I spray painted a parking spot with "BIKE PARKING" and someone keyed my car the next day. All that drama just to end up locking my bike to a dirty dumpster anyway. But hey, at least now the raccoons have a permanent neighbor.
