The patch of grass by my apartment building is actually green again
For the last two summers, the little strip of lawn out front was just a brown, crunchy mess by July. It looked awful and the heat coming off it was crazy. This year, our building manager listened to a few of us and stopped using the old gas mower and chemical spray. They switched to an electric mower and just let the clippings stay as mulch. It's been about three months now, and I'm not kidding, the grass is still green and soft. It feels cooler to walk on, and I've seen more bees and little bugs around. It's a tiny thing, but seeing that change makes me wonder what other small fixes we could push for around here. Has anyone else gotten their building to try something like this?
