Update: hit 1,200 miles on my bike commute this year and it snuck up on me
I started logging rides in the Strava app back in January just to see if I could beat my old record, and the counter rolled past 1,200 miles somewhere on the Springwater Corridor here in Portland. That works out to about 40 gallons of gas I didn't burn, which honestly didn't hit me until I did the math on a napkin. The weird part is none of it felt hard, it was just 6 miles each way, 4 days a week. Anyone else keep a running tally like this, and does it actually keep you going or does the number stop mattering after a while?
Logged every ride for a year once and then my phone died and took the whole log with it, so now I just guess and tell people I did a thousand. Forty gallons saved is no joke though, that math on a napkin probably hit harder than the actual biking did. The number only stops mattering when you stop looking at it, so keep the app going.
