Why does nobody talk about how hard it is to actually get people to sort trash right

I was one of those skeptics who thought community compost bins were a feel-good gimmick, but after my neighbor's kid spent one Saturday yelling at me for tossing a greasy pizza box in the paper bin, I realized the real issue is human stubbornness, not the system, so has anyone else had to bribe their crew with donuts just to get them to separate lids from bottles?

Honestly, my own recycling bin is a disaster zone and I'm the one who yells at my crew for mixing scrap metal with soda cans. Tbh, the only thing that worked was promising a box of glazed donuts if they sorted the lunchroom stuff right, and even then I caught someone shoving a yogurt cup into the paper pile. Ngl, at this point I'm just impressed when the lid actually makes it onto the bottle before it hits the bin.
