Found a way to stop coolant mist in my shop for under $20
I was tired of breathing in that fine coolant mist from my CNC lathe. I tried a cheap shower curtain from Home Depot and some magnets to make a small enclosure around the spindle. Has anyone else tried something simple like this to cut down on airborne mist?

...and it actually worked better than I thought it would, right? I did something similar with a plastic tablecloth and some binder clips a few years back. Did you notice any change in your air filter load after setting it up?

Gotta love when a cheap shower curtain beats a $500 mist collector, right? I'm half tempted to hang one around my whole shop now, make it look like a budget clean room. Seriously though, I bet your air filter is grateful for the break, even if it’s not a total solution. That fine junk settles everywhere, and knocking it down at the source makes a huge difference. Might have to try the magnet trick myself, because duct tape always finds a way to peel off after a week.
