My coolant pump gave me a surprise shower at the worst possible time
I was running a big batch of parts on the old Mazak at the shop in Tacoma last month, everything was going smooth. I leaned in to check a surface finish and the coolant line fitting on the pump housing just blew off, spraying green coolant all over my face and shirt. My boss walked in right as I was wiping my eyes, saw the mess, and just said 'nice look, you planning to water the plants too?'. Now I do a full check on every hose clamp before I even power up the machine. What's the weirdest thing that's ever broken on you mid-job?

Was it really the worst time though? Sounds like you just got a free coolant facial and a new shirt color. At least your boss has a sense of humor about it. Weirdest break I had was a drill bit snapping and the tip getting stuck in the ceiling tile.

Had a chuck key fly out of a drill press once, put a hole in the drywall. @the_wyatt's ceiling tile story beats that though.
