Overheard a newbie operator say 'I just hit go and hope'
Was setting up a machine next to a new guy at the plant. He said that as he loaded a 3/4 inch end mill into a job with no speeds or feeds checked. Felt bad for him but also made me realize how many people skip the basics. Took me about 5 crashes back in 2018 to learn that setting your RPM and feed rate before hitting cycle start saves parts and tooling. Does your shop actually teach this stuff or is it sink or swim?
