Shop teacher's tip about coolant flow changed my setup

Talked to an old machinist at a job fair in Dayton last week. He pointed at my flood nozzle and said "you're drowning the cut, not cooling it." He showed me a 1/8th inch stream aimed right at the shear zone instead. Took 20 minutes to redo my lines, but my inserts are lasting twice as long now. Anyone else run a skinny stream over full flood?
