Snapped a 1/2 inch end mill off on a Friday, turned it into a setup lesson
Pushing a job through before the weekend and got greedy with depth of cut. Took 0.15 off a steel part with a 1/2 inch 4 flute and heard that ping I hate. Snapped it clean at the holder about 2 hours before shift end. Had to reorder a $45 tool and eat the cost on that run. But it made me check my speeds and feeds against the actual machine spindle load. Turns out the old Dynapath was way less rigid than I assumed. Anyone else found that older controls need a big safety factor on DOC?
