Swapped my G-code editor for a visual simulator, wish I did it sooner
I ran a Haas VF-2 for years in a shop near Toledo and always proofed long programs by reading G-code line by line, which meant a lot of mental math and a few crashed tools on test cuts. About 6 months ago I started using a free simulator on my laptop that plots the toolpath, and it caught a bad retract move that would've trashed a $120 end mill. Anyone else here trust sims over old school dry runs, or do you still do both for critical parts?
