That $90 ultrasonic cleaner was worth every penny for collets
Been fighting with dirty collets for years, always using brake cleaner and a wire brush. Finally caved and bought a cheap 2 liter ultrasonic cleaner off Amazon for like 90 bucks. Threw all my ER32 collets in with some simple green and water, ran it for 15 minutes. The junk that came off was unreal, looked like a swamp in there. Now I do this every Friday before I leave and my runout numbers have been way more consistent. Anyone else using one of these things or am I late to the party?

Grabbed one of those same style cleaners about a year ago and honestly it sat in the box for two months before I tried it. First batch of crusty R8 collets came out looking brand new, I was genuinely pissed I waited so long. The key for me was letting them soak in the heated solution for a full 20 minutes and then doing a quick wipe with a rag after. Changed my whole cleaning routine, now I do it every Sunday night and my tool holders just feel smoother when I'm tightening them down. Brake cleaner and a brush is like scraping mud off your boots when you could just hose them off.
