Wasted $180 on a fancy 5-axis probe kit that didn't fit my machine
Ngl I got suckered by a slick online ad for a probe kit that promised to upgrade any CNC to full 5-axis capability. I spent $180 from my paycheck on it, waited 3 weeks for shipping from some guy in Arizona, and when I opened the box the mounting plate was for a completely different spindle nose taper. The instructions were just a single page with a blurry diagram and a phone number that went straight to voicemail. I tried to make it work with some shims and a file but I couldn't get the thing to even indicate straight. Honestly I should have just stuck with my old edge finder and saved the cash. Has anyone else bought a tool online that looked legit but turned out to be a total scam?

Yeah I've noticed that the more impressive the marketing sounds, the less likely the product actually works as advertised. Seems like a lot of these hobbyist CNC gadgets are just designed to separate people from their money rather than solve real problems.

Hard disagree. Some of these machines actually do exactly what they promise if you buy the right one.
