Can we talk about the tutorial that broke my whole project the night before it was due?
So I'm three weeks into learning Python, mostly through free videos, and I hit a wall on a small script that reads a CSV file of my gym numbers. It was due for a little class project at the community college in Riverside at 9am on a Monday. I found some random 40 minute tutorial from 2019 and followed it line by line, but the guy was using a library version that no longer works. I ran his exact code at 11pm and got 17 red error lines. I panicked, deleted half my file, and then spent two hours undoing that mess. What finally saved me was the official docs page and one Stack Overflow answer from 2022 that said to swap two import lines. That was it. Two lines. I turned it in at 7am with 4 hours of sleep and somehow got a B. So my real ask is this, how do you all tell if a tutorial is too old before you waste a whole night on it?
