Hot take: I was at a hackathon in Austin and saw a guy build a whole app with just Notepad and a basic HTML guide.

Now I tell every new person to skip the fancy tools for the first month and just write raw code in a text editor, because what's the best way to really learn the basics without any help?

Honestly that "skip the fancy tools" advice is solid. Tbh I tried to learn with all the fancy stuff first and my code looked like a toddler built it.

Yeah, that's the real trap. You get lost in the tools before you even know what you're building. Starting simple forces you to understand the basics first.
