I finally told my buddy his advice to skip Python and go straight to C was wrong for me
Last Tuesday my friend Dan, who's been coding for 12 years, told me to ditch the Python course I'm 40 lessons into and jump right into C because it builds "real fundamentals." I tried it for 3 days and spent most of that time fighting pointers and segfaults instead of actually building anything, which killed my momentum hard. Honestly the popular take that beginners should always start low level sounds tough and smart, but it made me feel dumb for not getting basic stuff I was fine with in Python. Now I'm back to my Python lessons on Codecademy and finishing small projects, and I'm learning way faster because I'm not stuck on memory stuff I don't need yet. Did anyone else get pushed into a harder language early and regret it, or did it actually work out for you?
