I finally tried that 'start with Python' advice my cousin gave me
My cousin, who's a software dev, told me to just pick Python and build something small, like a tip calculator, instead of reading about coding for weeks. I spent a whole Saturday in my apartment following a free online tutorial and actually got it to work. It felt way better than just watching videos about theory. Has anyone else had a good first project that made things click?

oh man, this is exactly what happened with me. i tried to read a whole book on programming first and it was torture. then i built a little mad libs game in python and it actually ran without crashing. that feeling is addicting, seriously.

Wait @fiona_murphy, doesn't grinding through the boring stuff first make the fun stuff way easier later though?

Wait, you actually thought reading a whole book first was the way to go too? I always figured you had to understand everything before you touched anything... but then I tried that Python turtle thing where you just draw shapes and it clicked way more than any chapter on variables ever did. It's like learning to cook by actually burning an egg instead of memorizing oven temperatures. That moment when the code first works feels like magic, even if it's just a stupid little game.
