I was at the library downtown and saw a kid learning to code from a book from 2001
It was a thick book about HTML 4, and it just hit me how much easier it is now with free online courses. Has anyone else found an old resource that made you appreciate modern learning tools?

Found a dusty Visual Basic 6 guide in a box last year. The screenshots looked like they were taken on a potato. It spent three pages explaining how to install the software from a CD-ROM. We have it so good now with Stack Overflow and video tutorials fixing any problem in five minutes. That old book was basically a doorstop with dreams.

My friend learned C++ from a massive, yellowed manual that smelled like basement.

Bet that book taught pointers with actual cave paintings. Sounds like the C++ came with free mold spores.
