My cousin's one comment about starting with Python made me switch my plan
I was set on learning C++ first because it seemed 'serious', but she said 'Python lets you build a working thing, like a simple game, in a weekend, which is way more fun.' That actually clicked for me. Has anyone else started with a 'harder' language and regretted it?

Totally see that. People get obsessed with the "right" way to start, the most serious path. Your cousin's right about the fun factor. It's like wanting to learn carpentry but starting by grinding your own tools instead of just building a birdhouse. Quick wins keep you going.

My old guitar teacher said most beginners quit because they try to learn theory before they can play a single song. That immediate reward of making music, even badly, is what builds the habit. The perfect method doesn't matter if you never stick with it.
