My first Python script tried to email my grocery list to 500 people
I was learning about loops and lists, so I made a simple program to send my shopping list to my family. I mixed up the loop counter and the email list, so it sent 'milk, eggs, bread' to every contact in my old address book from 2012. My aunt in Florida texted me asking if I was starting a new food delivery service. Has anyone else had a simple mistake in their code cause a big, funny mess?

Honestly, that sounds like a pretty funny way to learn a lesson about testing!

It was an old work phone from like 2012. The contact list was full of clients, vendors, and people I met once at a conference. Most of those numbers are probably disconnected by now. The lesson was definitely learned, but I'm still cringing at the thought of that email blast.

Wait, you had 500 people in your old address book? That's the real shocker here. My entire contact list is like 30 people max. The email blunder is bad but honestly I'm stuck on the number. How do you even know 500 people? That's a whole town.
