The part about "his reason was way simpler than mine" is what gets me, because I don't buy that simple reasons are somehow better or more pure. Fixing AC in Tucson is brutal work, you're crawling through attics when it's 110 out, and a guy doing that for decades probably has plenty of complicated reasons for wanting to sit at a computer instead. Maybe he just wanted AC that blows cold air on his face all day, or maybe he was tired of his knees. Either way the reason is still his.
