Vent: I watched my friend try to learn Python by copying code line by line for two months.

He kept asking me why his projects broke whenever he tried to change anything, and it finally hit me that he never learned what the basic commands actually did. How are you supposed to build anything if you don't understand the simple stuff first, you know?

Oh man, I've been there. I had a buddy who did the same thing with JavaScript. He'd copy a function to make a button work, but had no clue what an event listener even was. I finally sat him down with just a console.log and made him change the message ten times. Sounds silly, but that "oh!" moment when he saw his own text pop up? That's when it clicked. You gotta mess with the tiny pieces before the whole thing makes any sense.

Who thought breaking things could teach so much?

Make them delete the code and start from scratch.
