Barista at a shop in Denver swore 18 grams in 36 out, weighed it twice and he was dead on
I'd been eyeballing my dose for 2 years and getting sour shots half the time, so I finally bought a $15 scale and pulled three shots in a row within a gram of each other. Now I just need to figure out why my second shot always runs 3 seconds faster, any ideas?
A scale won't fix a puck that's still settling while you prep the next one, that 3 second drift is just your grinder warming up or leftover grounds in the chute. Timing and temp shift more than dose does anyway, so chasing gram perfection is kind of a waste.
