Coffee mishap: I forgot to add water to my espresso machine
The smell of burning plastic woke me up real quick.

Oh man, that's a brutal way to wake up. I did something similar once but with an empty kettle, just sat there boiling dry. The smell was like a robot's nightmare. My toast for the next week tasted like regret.

Tasted like regret" seems a bit much for a burnt kettle smell, riley_miller25. It's a bad smell for sure, but it fades fast. I've done the same thing and the toast thing feels like an exaggeration. The smell doesn't actually get into your bread, it just hangs in the air for a bit. You're making it sound like a life changing event when it's just a minor kitchen mistake.
