Finally stopped rolling my eyes at the fancy burr grinder thing

I mean, for like two years I used a $20 blade grinder from Target and told myself it was fine. My buddy Josh kept saying I was ruining my beans but I figured coffee snobs just like spending money. Then last month I tried his Encore grinder on my usual dark roast and the difference was honestly embarrassing. No more bitter burnt taste, just smooth coffee that actually tasted like what the bag says. Has anyone else resisted upgrading for way too long and then felt dumb about it?

Coffee's fine either way, lots of bigger problems in the world.

Read an article just yesterday about how coffee actually has some health benefits if you don't load it down with sugar and cream. Heard from a friend who's a nutritionist that moderate coffee drinking might even help with long term brain health, so it's not just a neutral thing. Stuff like that makes me think there's more to the debate than people give it credit for. But yeah, I get where you're coming from, there are definitely bigger things to worry about in the world. Still, for people who drink it every day, small choices can add up over time. Your mileage may vary on that though, I'm just passing along what I came across.
